WW1 British Machine Gun Team
The Vickers machine gun was the standard machine gun of the British Army during the First World War, with a reputation for great solidity and reliability. It was expected that 10,000 rounds would be fired per hour, and that the barrel would be changed every hour. The Vickers could also be used for indirect fire against enemy positions at ranges up to 4,500 yards. This plunging fire was used to great effect against road junctions, trench systems, forming up points, and other locations.
